1 Comment on Life On The Road - The Kinks - Sleepwalker (Vinyl, LP, Album)

  1. Driven by Dave Davies' beefy guitar chunks and a rolling piano, "Life on the Road" begins the Kinks album Sleepwalker, a song cycle in which a character suffers from a sleep disorder. Starting out as if it's going to be one of Ray Davies' music hall numbers, a show tune from the Preservation or Arthur eras, or a family reminiscence.

  3. With nine solid new rockers like the autobiographical "Life On The Road" and smash singles like "Juke Box Music" and the stellar title track "Sleepwalker", the entire LP seemed like a greatest hits album at the time due to the way rock radio was so receptive to this tremendous new masterwork from The Kinks.
  4. As I say in all my Kinks reviews, the lyrics are once again top notch. Standouts to me are Life on the Road, Life Goes On (I think one of their best), Juke Box Music, Brother and Sleepwalker. Listening to this album made me think of the movie Dazed & Confused. I really think this album could have served as the movie's soundtrack/5(62).

  7. Sleepwalker is the sixteenth studio album by the English rock group, the Kinks, released in It marked a return to straight-ahead, self-contained rock songs after several years of concept albums. It is the first album in what critics usually call the "arena rock" phase of the group, in which more commercial and mainstream production techniques would be employed.
